Grilled salmon is one of my family's favorites. There are a couple techniques we've tried lately that tastes good just using plain fish. One is to take a piece of cedar wood (we used left overs from our fence) then soak it for 12-24 hours in water. Put on a hot grill and let it warm up. Cook the fish on the plank, without flipping, until done. It's fantastic.
We've also done the paper bag trick. Take a plain paper grocery bag cut down to filet size and soak in olive oil for an hour or so. Place on low grill and cook the fish without flipping until done. Easy clean up - but I have a warning, the last time I did this I didn't have the grill set right and the bag went up and took my beautiful salmon with it.
And for a different flavor - Maple Salmon Glaze. 4stars from All Recipe.com
1/4 cup maple syrup
2TBLS soy sauce
1 Clove garlic minced
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1 lb salmon
Combine ingredients and merinate fish for half hour, turning once.
Goes great with the above techniques. ![]()
THanks so much Rambo. I have seen the cedar planks at the store and I think I'll pick a couple up and give them a try. I saw a recipe some time back that called for maple syrup. I wasn't quite sure about it but since you've suggested it, I think I'll give that one a try too. Thanks again. I just love grilling season
