I've had a woman ask me if I did any favors for baby showers. While my first response was to say no, I then thought of chocolate covered oreos - I already have the molds and I could just get little baby shower type molds to add to the top of the plain mold I have. How many would you include in each favor - 2, 3? How much would you charge for each favor? She is looking at spending no more then $2 per favor. Should I just tell her to look elsewhere? I am already doing the cake and only charging $2 per serving for a fondant covered cake (I know, I need to up my prices.....).
HELP - no one has ever asked me for favors before.
TIA
Jen
$2 per favor seems reasonable if she's expecting small favors. i'd say just 1 chocolate covered oreo wrapped in a cute box with a ribbon.
$2 per serving for fondant is way too low! us decorators really need to learn to stick to our guns and get the money that we deserve! (haha i'm really not in a position to talk since i wayy undercharge for my cakes too
)
Thanks Dandelion! That's what I was thinking - just one cookie. I think I may pass on this one. I'm sure that she would want more then one cookie since it is a Jack 'n Jill shower.
I know - $2 per serving is way too low, but there are not a lot of decorators here using fondant (at least for the people that I know) and they are a little leary (sp?) about it.
Thanks again. Any other thoughts?

I would probably do two chocolate oreos in a cello bag for $2. You can always pipe on a decoration on top of a plain oreo mold...easy one would be the baby-to-be's first initial?? Dunno- tough call- there's always the spreading the word of mouth advertising to consider??
Thanks Sarah. I think I am going to tell her no for this time, but tell her to keep me in mind in the future. We are in the middle of packing to move so I think the cake may be time consuming enough. Too bad it wasn't for after we move.....
Thanks again.
Jen
