Ok, just a quick question, but I'm trying to figure out how much fondant I need per cake so that I can price it. I am making a 6, 8, and 10 inch cake, all of which need fondant. Does anyone have an idea of how much fondant that will take or a good formula to figure it out before hand so that I don't have to take a wild guess?

TIA!

are you making or buying? I tend to count at leats one batch per layer which includes decorations.

10 lbs should be enough and you might even have extra

in the wilton yearbook it says you need
18oz for the 6in, 24oz for the 8in. and 36oz for the 10 inch if the cakes are 4in high

Does this come out to roughly 3 oz. per inch? Could I really need 16 pounds to make a whimsical cake? Am I correct that this would be roughly 6 batches of MMF? Sorry for the dumb questions...I got excited to see this thread as I was about to post a similar one...very new at this fondant stuff!

Thanks for the link to earlenescakes.com debster, I think that will help a lot! I'm hoping maybe 10 pounds of fondant is enough!
