I need to make a cooler or bucket of beer cake and was wondering if anyone that has done one before could give me some tips on how to make the ice? Do you just make the sugar and pour it on a pan and then break it up? And how far in advance can I make this?

Thanks

You could make rock candy and break it up too, depending on the look you want=) Here is one recipe for rock candy, but there are many more on the internet too=) Jen

I didn't know that's how it is made! Interesting to know for future reference.
Time comsuming but would be well worth it for the effect of ice.

Just wanted to add that I saw this cake in person....and it looked awesome! Just follow CakeRN's directions and you'll do great!
