Yep, pretty much. Three tips:
1. use mostly white, and only a bit of choc. (est: 1/3-1 cup per 8" cake pan)
2. mix IN the pan, not in the bowl
3. mix as little as posible
Good luck!

I was planning on putting my white mix in the pan then globing some chocolate mix on and swirling with a knife. Is that right??

When i make my Marble I use Equal parts of White cake and Chocolate cake. I spoon the white into the pan in various spots (to cover about 1/2 of the pan. Then spoon chocolate in between the white to finish covering the base of the pan. If I have extra white/chocoalte then I reverse the flavors. So White goes ontop of chocolate and chocolate goes on top of white.

I use a small spatula to swirls the flavors together.. just make sure you don't swirl to much or it will just mix together and you don't have a marble effect anymore.

That will work! Everyone makes their marble a little bit different so you just have to find a way that works for you!

Thanks! Your way sounds like it would look better, but I don't know if I have the energy for that tonight. icon_cool.gif

When you use a marble cake MIX, it asks you to reserve one cup of batter to turn into chocolate. If a mix yields about four cups of batter, than you're only using 1/4 chocolate and 3/4 white or yellow.

IME chocolate is a much stronger flavor, and if you use too much chocolate, the cake tastes entirely chocolate and the white cake kinda disapeares. I've always liked white cake a little more than chocolate, so I want to be able to taste both flavors. The only way I'm ever able to do that is if most of the cake is white. Still, other people have other methods that work for them (and Leily's method sure sounds pretty!)...
Good luck!

When I make my marble cake I usually use my 13X9 and make one mix of yellow and one chocolate. I then alternate spooning one of each until the pan is almost full. It turns out very delicious and everyone loves it. Best of luck to you!

No, just plopping the two mixes is enough, I just don't want to blend it too much. HTH!
