What other liquid have you used other than liquor or creamer...for cake balls?

Any ideas of what else will work?

milk/cream
raspberry preserves
pureed strawberries

Basically anything that will help "bind" the cake, it doesn't necessarily have to be a liquid. I can imagine you could use a juice, depending on what flavor you were going for.

That's the great thing about cake balls - the possibilities are endless!

How moist should the cake balls be? I made some last weekend they tasted good, but when I put powdered sugar on them the sugar disappeared and they were sticky.

If you do a search in the forums there are a few different post with different directions. The main one that seemed to start it all was Cookieman's Recipe. So if you search for him (in the search not as author) you will probably get quite a few topics that have different recipes/suggestions. This recipe seems to be so versatile to be able to work for anyones taste or ingredients on hand.

Jessireb, I add just enough liquid or binder so that the cake holds and will form a ball. Try not to oversaturate it. It should hold together without being overly sticky or wet.

If yours are too wet, add a bit more cake or let them sit out for an hour or so.

SLK - why not? If they complement each other(even if they don't), go for it! That's the beauty of cake balls - you can make up your own flavors.

Sad to say we stand around the table mixing and matching cake scraps to eat - and they taste good that way...I love this whole cake ball idea. I can't wait to try them.

I've been a member here for a while now, and justnow got on here to look around.. It looks great

As for Cake Balls..I call them Cake Bites, I've made my fair share. They were a huge hit at my bakery (Thanks Diane B if you're on here )

I have found over the years that instead of using icing, if you use a little bit of white chocolate, it helps them become more firm fo rdipping AND extends their shelflife by about a week. I used to get by with1 week with icing cake bites, but with chocolate, i can keep them up to 2 weeks

Hope this helps someone icon_smile.gif
