Making a cake, ready to go in the oven. I just realized that I do not have any shortening, what can I do?
Someone please tell me what I need to do, my cake is all ready to in the oven, so what options do I have.
butter... cream cheese... mini mart???
What kind of cake are you making, and how much will you need?
I don't understand the question... what will you be using the shortening for? Icing? If so, you can make an all butter buttercream... or even an IMBC.
It is unclear from your post whether you need the shortening for your cake, or frosting (when cake comes out of oven).
Below is a list of common baking substitutions - for shortening you can substitute: butter, lard or margarine.

I can use butter to grease the pan and it won't stick?
You can use butter to grease your pan. Sprinkle flour on it before you place the cake batter.
