As a nurse, I feel I must offer one small caution: make sure she can eat cookies because she may be on a very restricted diet for her CHF/congestive heart failure. To be on the safe side, before going to the trouble to ship the cookies, ask her daughter if she would be allowed to eat a treat like that.
Referencing SugarFrosted's comment, if cookies can be eaten, I've found a website that offers advice on how to mail cookies and which kinds of cookies are the best to mail:
http://allrecipes.com/advice/coll/all/articles/176P1.asp
In addition to the other suggestions given, you can also call the U.S. Post Office's toll free number 1-800-ASK USPS and inquire since they are the folks who deliver the mail.
I'm truly sorry that your friend--our CC family member--is ill. My thoughts and prayers are with your both!

I just want to say I am sorry to hear you and your friend are dealing with this. But I do want to let you know that as scarry as it is, it can be dealt with and a life lived after being diagnosed ![]()
I have cousin who was diagnosed with heart failure (she had about 3 different things wrong with her heart) when she was born, she had open heart surgery at 6 weeks old, and contiuning surgeries/doctors visits until she was about 6-8 years old. But her heart condition is being controlled now and she hasn't been in the hospital as much the last few years, just her monthly/yearly appointments.
The doctors said she wouldn't make it very long,(as she also has another VERY VERY rare condition with her DNA) and it was very hard on the whole family. But I am Very happy to say we will be celebrating her 16th birthday this year and she has proven all of those doctors wrong!
It is a difficult road, but this condition can be dealt with.
Sadly, this condition has touched a few others in my family and it has been dealt with also, so they are still able to enjoy life!
Sorry this turned into a long post, I just thought I would give you a little encouragement on the situation.
As for those Cookies! I would suggest sending either the book or flowers along with it so she has something to enjoy, but will definitely appreciate the thought on the cookies i am sure!

I KNOW SHE IS SICK, AND PROBABLY DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT. BUT IS THERE ANYWAY SHE CAN GET AXCESS TO A COMPUTER?
MAYBE WE COULD ALL GET ON ONE FORUM, AND WISH HER WELL AND LET HER SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THINKING OF HER.
IF SHE DOESN'T FEEL UP TO IT, MAYBE HER DAUGHTER THAT YOU MENTIONED COULD READ SOME TO HER AT A TIME.THAT MIGHT EVEN LIFT HER SPIRITS SOME. I KNOW IT WOULD MINE.
IF THIS IS A CRAZY IDEA THEN SKIP IT, IT WILL NOT HURT MY FEELINGS, I WAS JUST EXPRESSING THEM.
ALSO I HOPE SHE IS FEELING BETTER.
That is a good idea but I have had trouble getting her to respond to my emails. The last one I sent her was about 3 weeeks ago and she just responded last night when I found all of this out. Her daughter has not called me yet this morning but when she does, I will ask her.
Thanks!
Michelle you have my prayers for your friend. How about printing out this page of well wishes and good thoughts from her fellow CC'ers and send it along the way with her goody box?
Oh, you're good! Never thought of that either! I will do that!
I am sure she will be touched by all of this support!
She never posted anything on here, she told me that she just liked to watch and see what everyone is talking about. She would be very happy to see this!
Thanks guys!!
Here is prayer that always makes me happy...
"Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury; pardon. Where there is doubt; hope. Where there is darkness; light. Where there is sadness; joy."
"God, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
Let her know she is prayed for.
xoxo
You and your friend are in my prayers. If she cant eat the cookies she might like them for all of her guests. Your a very thoughtful friend. ![]()

You can print off these pages and send them too her so that she read them, and if more is added you can send those pages later when you think she may be down. There are may well wishes on these pages and I am sure she would be happy to see that everyone cares enough to help you so you can make her happy. Just keep us up to date if you can and let us know if she gets better.
You might want to look in to something a little blander since it appears that Loss of appetite may be a major side effect. I know when I had a kid that lived across the street from me who was going through chemo he would not eat a thing his mother made but I made him vegetable soup from starch and Jell-O and he would eat that right up. So you might want to send her a few packs of Jell-O and some decorative Jell-O molds and maybe a powder mix for a basic vegetable soup. The cookies are good so if she has her strength and can eat them she has the option and she can share those with others.
