Hey all

I am in the middle of working on this cake... For a 17th bday party tomorrow....

I a not sure what to do on the top? any great ideas?

The bday girl's name is AMY and I have done the letters of her name in a mold with candy melts, flavored bubble gum.. the letters are white and I put black polka dots on them too... Not sure how to attach them to the cake or if I shoudl do that for the top. I like the look that people do with wire coming off the top of the cake kinda crazy. But I do not know how to attach them ,etc...

Any great ideas out there?

I am stumped right now!
thanks and happy night!

Depending on how big the letters here's one option that I've used. I put a small mound of icing on the top and placed the base of my letters in them to stand upright. For smaller letters I have made small mounds of icing and laid the letter down so that the top end is propped up at an angle. You can adjust the degree of angle by placement on the mound. Worked for me. Good luck! You cake looks great so far! She's going to love it!

CarolAnn's suggestion is great...do you have any more of those pink flowers? You could put them around the letters if you do that.

Depending on how big the letters are, I would arch them, or put them around the back, kind of like the Hollywood sign that sits on the mountainside in California.

I love the cake - it reminds me of the black and white outfit Audrey Hepburn wore in My Fair Lady, with a touch of pink Chanel to accent it.

With the wires do you mean the star bursts? You just insert wires into the decorations (before they are dry/hard) and once they are dry put a flower/posy pick into the cake and squish a little bit of fondant into it then stick the wires into the fondant. You can then bend the wires to get the look you want and you can use some plain wire and wrap it around a paintbrush or pencil etc to get a curly look and put that in amongst the others. icon_smile.gif

You could also attach lollipop sticks to the back of the letters using candy melts and when dry insert them into the top of the cake.
