If I cannot get unsprayed roses, can I still use them if I just put some plastic wrap or something like that between the roses and the cake? Those of you who have put real roses on a cake... what do you do to keep the from touching the frosting?
Thanks!

You could use parchment or wax paper or even saran wrap, as long as it keeps the flowers off the cake. Just be sure whoever's serving is aware of it if they can't see it.

If you watched Bobby Flay last night he used bunches of real roses..all he did was cut the stem then stick them right into the cake. and he cut them straight from the bucket/pail. He did not even washed them or anything. I am assuming that came from a florist, because the bunches looked like the ones you see in the florist dept. in the grocery.. Paula Dean did the same thing for her son's wedding cake. I really would not worry about it too much, unless they will be eating the roses. Just washed them really well. Maybe just let it stick out half an inch away from the frosting. I have used roses I bought from the supermarket, I didn't even asked them. Everything was fine. icon_smile.gif
