Aloha everyone,
I am fluent in the Hawaiian language, and I wanted to give you all a quick lesson in the correct spelling of a Hawaiian word I've seen used on this site:

The word "Luau" should actually be spelled with a macron (called a kahako) over the first "u" and a glottal stop (called an 'okina, like a backwards apostrophe) between the first "u" and the "a". So it would look like this: lu'au (with a macron over the first "u").

"Luau", with no markers, actually has no meaning in the Hawaiian language.

A great website to find Hawaiian language translations is www.wehewehe.org.

Also, I am here to help if anyone needs to translate something into our beautiful language.

Aloha! icon_smile.gif

Aloha!
Nice to see another Coma Aina person here. I moved to the mainland recently from the Garden Island of Kaua'i.
Ahui ho,
