My daughter is baking a large sheet cake for a wedding. We are in the middle of a storm. It was in the oven for about 5 minutes when the power went off. How long can it sit there and still be good when the power comes back on? Will she need to just trash it or can we save it? Thanks for any help you can offer.

It has been close to 45 minutes now and the power is still off. That cake is definitely headed for the trash can. Hope it comes back on before the night is over. The wedding is tomorrow! Thanks anyway!

I had some left over batter sitting in a cake pan outside of the oven before. I left it on the counter for an hour. I still baked it to see how it would taste and it was fine.

Hope this helps.

Nope. Unfortunately, she had to trash it. But the good news is that her power is back on now. So she is busy making mixers full of icing. She'll be up late, but everything should be good to go for the wedding tomorrow. Thanks for the comments!
