Fill Your Cakes Yourself And Avoid This!!!!

I did all the work on this cake but asked my daughter to fill the top tier for me while I did something else. Following day I asked my hubby to deliver the cake and 20 minutes after departing he called me so agitated that I thought he was on the verge of having a heart attack. Apparently my daughter filled the top tier too much and I did'nt notice it. The filling started to filter out of the cake and softened the fondant, the top tier almost collapsed. Luckily he checked the cake out before arriving to the delivery site to be sure it looked okay. I asked him to return home ASAP!!! I needed to fix this cake!! When he arrived and I saw this disaster I thought it was me who was going to have a heart attack. Luckily I had more fondant ready and were able to fix the cake even though my hands were so shaky while painting the scrolls. After all was only a small cake and easy to fix.
Well it turned out reallly nice even w/the disaster involved

I think it was a good save. My daughter always asks to help me out, too. So I will let her color the icing and that's all! I get nerved up enough doing my own work! I think it looks very pretty!

You know, my 8 year old daughter wants to help me decorate cakes as well. Joann's is offering a kids decorating class during the summer and I'm thinking about having her take that class to get the basics down. Who knows? Maybe I'll let her decorate cupcakes when I have extra batter.
