I can only help with your first question, as I'm not familiar with Tres Leches cake. You can use strawberry flavoring for the buttercream no problem! Maybe even some vanilla and strawberry flavoring together would be nice. I like almond with anything berry flavored myself. You can also mix strawberry preserves into the buttercream for some color and flavor.

You can use strawberry flavoring, but a word of caution: it will turn your BC bright pink!

Also, be careful if you are using any fresh strawberries for filling - or even strawberry preserves if you use too much. It can be very wet (as in oozing out the sides) and slippery (as in top layer slides off). Don't ask me how I know these things icon_cry.gif

Anyway, strawberry flavor or a little preserves mixed with your buttercream should be fine. Just don't overdo it.

thanks so much for your replys. i thought about making some kind of strawberry glaze or something to that effect and poking holes in the cake to let it ooze down in it. i dont know yet. i am gonna make a small sample cake to let them taste because i am just not sure of how it is gonna go together. thanks again.
