For those who've been decorating for a while, do you still ever make a cake once in a while where absolutely everything that could possibly go wrong does? A few days ago, I made a cake to show to my new boss at a bakery. Well..... ![]()

the emoticons just about say it all!!! It was only a 6" but it gave me so much trouble. The fondant got crumbly after I colored it red
, which I made into loops for a bow which also collapsed before I even finished assembling, I had to cover thecake with the MMF 3 times before it came out right, Oh I forgot to mention that my thermostat died that day and so the inside of my apt. was 110' F!!!! And on and on and oooooon. Someone please tell me I'm not the only one
Thanks.
YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE~~~ I have been decorating w/ bc for years just now getting into fondant but I still have cakes that I just want to throw against the wall....
Sorry your having a hard time nothing I can say to make ya feel better but at least you know your not alone right!
I'm having that problem right now. I made a 14" round that didn't want to come out of the pan. Tried to torte it and even more came off the darn thing! Thought about making another round... have one egg, the kids are asleep and my hubby's at work for another hour. I even made the stinkin' frosting already. Argh!! ![]()
I have had problems in the past with dark/bright coloured fondant (although not MMF) and gumpaste and in particular red with it cracking, crumbing, breaking etc. I think it is something to do with a lot of colour so that could be part of the problem - it gets pretty warm here and humid too so maybe heat is also any issue.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this and has any tips/secrets
