I love Americolors.
I discovered them at a local baking supply store and couldn't believe the difference in the brightness and deepness of color. I loved not having to start with chocolate frosting for black because I don't like to mix my frosting flavors on the same cake. I think it takes away from the individual flavors being thier best. Just MHO. But I digress. In short - You will love them.
I wish I had bought the 4.5 oz bottles. I bought the smaller bottles thinking I needed "less" to color my icing with. I had Super Red but it still took a lot to get a good red and it did get darker after sitting 24 hours or so.
If you look at my July 4th cake you can see where the blue icing darkened. I did a FBCT and I wasn't happy with it, so I used the star tip to enhance it and you can see where the blue deepeded in color.
I am learning lessons as I go and I made and colored icing today to use tomorrow.
