I just completed my first wedding cake and groom's cupcake tower this past Sunday, and I already have my first real order now, and this is from a stranger! icon_eek.gif Kinda nervous... Well, she's sent me some pictures, but I have NO CLUE what to charge. It will feed about 100, not including top layer for anniversary, and the florist will be providing the topper, so I shouldn't have to make any flowers. I'm including links to two cakes she likes, and she hasn't specified flavors or fillings yet, and I know that can be a factor as well. Basing the price off of the following pictures (scrollwork, but I already have the stamps), and seeing that this is only my second wedding cake... What should I charge???

Keep in mind that I'm in Chattanooga as well.

Thanks so much! I'd be lost without you all! BTW... The wedding is August 5th! Whew...

If buttercream covered then start at $3 per serving.

If fondant covered, $4 per serving.

Hope this helps.

You know, I think we ought to get a pricing matrix for the different regions of the country (ok, world!) we are all in and start from there. I mean, I live in Los Angeles, and what would be a good price here would be outrageous in, say, Georgia. But it would still be cheap by New York standards. Just an idea... but for this, I would start at $3.00 per serving.

Thanks for the responses. And this might be a dumb question but I don't know the answer, so I'll ask anyways. icon_wink.gif ... Is the top layer just free then (I mean, included in the price since you don't include the top tier for the serving?)?

Thanks again!

I would definitely add the top tier to the price icon_wink.gif So instead of charging for a 100 person cake, charge for 100 person plus the topper!
