I remember hearing briefly about cake extenders but don't remember much about it. What are cake extenders? Can someone explain to me briefly or direct me to the place where I can find more info.

Thanks a heap,
Cynita

A cake mix extender will make a typical cake mix taste more like a scratch mix, you can add different flavors (almond, vanilla, lemon extracts, or even use a coffee mate or international delight flavored creamer to vary your flavors), and it will make the mix go a bit further (your pan calls for 7 cups of cake mix, and your box makes 5 1/2, the extender will help to add the rest without having to make a whole other box mix and have most left over).

The recipe on this site is:

And another one I use is the WASC (white almond sour cream):

They are both delicious!!

What else can you use?? What if you don't have sourcream or are intolerant?? And what if you don't have creamer either??

Not all the extender recipes call for sour cream, yogurt, or cream.....

And the use of flavored coffee creamer is optional.

For other options, using what you have on hand, and are not allergic to; you might want to read the threads that were provided. icon_smile.gif
