OK. Ever since I started to use sour cream in my cakes. After a couple days the leftovers get a funny aftertaste. I love how moist my cakes have been, but am gonna try leaving it out and see if it still happens. Never had it happen prior to using the sour cream. Has anyone else experienced this?

TIA

Is the cake absorbing odd flavors from being stored in the 'fridge.

You don't have to refrigerate a cake made with sour cream; it's safe at room temperature stored in a cake keeper. icon_smile.gif

Actually, I haven't been refrigerating them. Just on the counter with saran wrap. I thought that maybe not putting them in the fridge was causing it.... now I even more stumped.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause the funny taste?

I had the same thing happen when I made the WASC. I never thought about it being the sour cream. I thought it was the vanilla. I have decided that I don't like McCormicks real vanilla. I think it has a strange taste to it.
