I was just wondering what tools everyone has found that they love. I am new to decorating and am wondering what are a few things I should have to do a better job. (I also live in a small town so have to drive 3 hours for good shopping so hate to realize I missed something I need!)
Also I am wondering what generic tools you have found that are great for decorating (like the roller for smoothing icing etc).
Thanks everyone!

The tilted turntable for sure. I had originally purchased the regular one of Wilton's a couple years ago, then recently purchased the tilted one. I no longer use the original, except as a shelf to store things on.

Also, I use the caddy (box to hold supplies) to organize my tips and small supplies. I used to have everything in a plastic shopping bag and it took forever to find the tip, tool, etc that I needed. I love the caddy kit!!

Great post... I'd love to know what other people use that I haven't tried yet, too!!

Its funny that you said you made a trip to the play dough factory. I find a lot of my kids play dough stuff very useful when working with fondant. I would say you definitly need a good cake stand and a good stand mixer. and icing smoother tons of tips and stock up on bags. actually I just picked up a catty at walmart. I think its suppose to be used for storing sewing stuff. but its great clear plastic with a million drawers perfect for tips and colors only 6 dollars I about peed when I saw it. icon_redface.gif and pans of course but I guess thats not really a tool. its really somthing you have to build up gradually its seems like there is always something new you have to have. Its a never ending obession.

I wouldn't decorate without my disposable piping bags... washing them out is not for me, neither is folding darn little triangles of parchment. I shove the tip in, fill it with icing and pipe. When I am done, I use the scissors to cut my tip off the bag and drop the whole sticky mess in the garbage! icon_lol.gif
