Can You Make Red Velvet Cake From A Yellow Box Cake?

Can this be done? I know real red velvet is made with coco powder and some red food coloring...can you just add those to a yellow box?

I'm sure you can. The Cake Mix Doctor's recipe starts from a German chocolate box mix so your yellow cake mix with chocolate and other ingredients can be red velvet.
