I have a request for a cake covered in fondant that looks like cowhide. Any suggestions to how to make cowhide? She wants the cowhide mostly white.

Here is the link to the cake she saw:
http://www.deliciouscakes.com/Grooms%20Cakes.html
It is the 7th cake

Here is my plan:
Get white and brown fondant

Roll each out to about 1/2 inch

Cut matching wavy strips of each, the white about 3 times wider than the brown

Piece them together and finish rolling out

Cover the cake

Does it sound like my plan will get the right effect?

Any better plans?

TIA

I have only done fondant on one cake. I have read about doing the effect you want. You have the right idea. I think you can roll it thinner before piecing it together. I cannot remember how thick fondant is suppose to be to cover a cake with.

sounds good. I probally would just cut the brown and put it on top after you rolled it out a bit.
