Hi everyone. I got an order for 2 dozen Batman cookies and a Batman cake wednesday. Here is what I came up with. It was for a 4 year old's b-day party. The mom was really pleased and the kid was really happy- so that makes the 2 days of madness all worth it! Thanks for looking! Happy Baking!

Thanks for all the great freedback. I was feeling a little down about the cake... it just felt a litle boring to me, but then I told myself that I don't have to be totally in love with every cake I make.

Anyways, In response to a few questions:

The cake is covered in blue mmf, and then I used a blue spray can food color because I couldn't get it dark enough, and I wanted a little texture to the color. All the buildings and bats are made from Wilton's premade fondant.

For the cookies, I used NFSC. The yellow is Toba's glace and the black is RI. I actually had to make the cookie cutter for these. It was pretty funny when I went HomeDepot and was trying to figure out what in the world I needed. I ended up walking out of there with this hug sheet of metal and a bunch of tools. (And about $30 less in my bank account!) I was pretty surprised how easy it was to make the cutter, but I guess an oval is a pretty god place to start for my first one.
So, for the bats what I did was I printed a picture out online and laminated it. Then once the yellow was dry I took a yellow food color marker and layed the bat template on the cookie and traced the outline. Then I just piped it in with thinned RI.

Thanks again for all the great feedback. Hopefully it went over well at the party!

If you don't mind my asking, how much did you charge for the cake and cookies? Also, what are the sizes of the cake. I am asking because I have to do the same thing in a Spiderman theme in two weeks. I am not charging, I am doing it for a friend and to gain more practice.

I especially like the idea of the 'cityscape' around the sides of the cake.
That was a great idea.
