Are rice paper and wafer paper the same thing? Is this the same rice paper you can purchase in the asian section at the market? This is for a Grad cake if that helps...

I started to follow all those links to see if this was mentioned, but it was too cumbersome. I felt like I was searching for clipart!

Rice paper and wafer paper are basically the same thing. Wafer paper is made from other grains, usually wheat, which is why it's not called "rice paper".

I also thought they were the same, so I purchased rice paper at an asian grocery store and it was beige in color and round and had some basket-weave textured to it. A few weeks later, I bought wafer paper from a cake decorating store and it was white in color, rectangular and very thin like a piece of paper, will definitely buy the wafer paper for cake decorating.
