i have to make fish and plam trees for a cake tomorrow. I was going to use fondant but have read that fondant by itself doesnt hold shape very well. What should I add to the fondant to make it hold form better? Is there another mdeium that I should be using instead?

Thank you! =)

Hi,

Maybe you could use chocolate molds sea theme that is what i did to make fishies one time and then use pear dust it work fine.

Hope this helps,
best of luck icon_biggrin.gif

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong... but, adding gumtex to fondant makes gumpaste. I've only just begun making the figures, but using half fondant and half gumpaste will allow it to dry a bit faster than only using fondant. Make sure you give it plenty of time to dry (usually a couple of days), so that is doesn't droop if you want anything to stand up on your cake.

I think I add about a teaspoon to a batch of MMF. If I only have a small amount of MMF then I just sprinkle a little gumtex on it and knead it in - I'm not one for measuring! lol

I just roll a small ball of mmf in the gumtex container and knead it in. If it doesn't feel like it's stiffened up a little, I dip it again. This works great for me.
