I made a strawberry cake for a bridal shower and I will be decorating it tomorrow (Saturday). But I need a fresh strawberry filling. I have searched the recipes and forums and I am quite confused on what I should use. I don't want the strawberries to be mushy. I am afraid to use whipped cream because it always soaks into the cake. Does anyone have any suggestions?? thanks.

I have always used sliced fresh strawberries mixed with the gel that they sell in the produce section. Mix just enough gel with the strawberries to coat them.
