I made these things two days ago and they are STILL not even remotely dry. They are in an air conditioned house with a fan blowing directly on them. I ke I should have made them two weeks ago. Anyone have any tips or tricks? Can I freeze them and use them frozen at the party? SHould I remake them and use 1/2 gumpaste? I really don't want to do that, but If I need to then I need to do it asap. The party is Saturday! Thanks!!!

It has been very humid here lately. That may be the problem. I will try the oven and see if it works. Thanks!!!!!!!!

Make sure it is on super low...you just want the warmth from the heat but not fry them!!

Um, I checked tham after 20 minutes and everything has melted!!!!

Crap! Now I have to start all over! It was on 170, but they were MMF, not regular fondant.

Should I mix with gumpaste this time? This sucks...

Mix with 1/2 gumpaste and don't use too much Crisco if you can avoid it. I learned the hard way too, my oven does not work to dry them, only melts them.

Well, I'm not mad about it. Live and learn, I guess. If I mix with gumpaste, can I use the fondant I have already melted? (after it cools of course) Do you think they will dry in time?

I am making Wiggles figures for my nieces 2nd birthday party. I made all 4 guys and hats to go on them. Everything is a big pile of gooey mess. icon_confused.gif

Boy, am I glad I'm working so I wasn't able to try and dry mine yet. icon_biggrin.gif Only kidding!!! But at least now I know not to do the same thing.

Sorry strawberry0121 that I learned from you!!! icon_sad.gif

Glad yours didn't melt into puddles (I have pics and will post later) But, how ARE you going to get the MMF to dry faster?

Keep watching this topic to see if anyone has any ideas - otherwise, I can use mine as is because they are roses and actually look kinda pretty with the leaves a little drooped. I just got lucky that they are the very first thing I have ever made with MMF. thumbs_up.gif

It has been overcast and humid here, no sunlight available! But I thought that sunshine fades colors too.

Do you have a food dehydrator? I wonder if that would work.

Oh my, I do wish that some genius somewhere would find an answer to this! I'm facing the same time crunch myself - glad I'm warned about the oven. Mayube I'll try the patio or back of the loveseat in the sunroom- direct afternoon sun. Now, hope the birds or the dogs don't get them first! Really - someone please come up with a method for this! Thanks - PAT

If set directly in the sun, wouldn't they still melt? It seems that if they melt from the heat of the oven, then the heat of the sun....... icon_confused.gif Don't mean to scare anyone, just don't want anyone else melting theirs.

I am going to make gumpaste and make a 50/50 ish mix with MMF. Then, I will start a test piece in the dehydrator while I am remaking the Wiggles figures. I will let you know the outcome!

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER! DANGER! I put my tray of MMF's out in the sun, and within 5 minutes they began to melt - maybe this time I'm a fast learner! PAT

Someone told me one time that you can brush the figures with alchohol (like vodka) and it would help thme dry. Not sure if this is a good idea for the kiddies tho icon_confused.gif
