I just made a practice fondant cake and used Wiltons ivory color to color MMF. Low and behold......the color came out the color of sliced american cheese!!! Almost orange

What the heck?! I'm just glad it was only a practice cake. Any idea what I did wrong?

How much did you use? I don't think it would take much more than a drop (well a thin toothpick dip) to make ivory.

Wow! Sure you didn't get the caps mixed up among your colors? That color seems to be on the brown side. I usually have to add and add ivory to color gumpaste.
Coloring is an art and a science. Nothing's ever as simple as it seems, for sure!

I've tried several different ivories, and I like Wilton's the least. I agree - it's too much on the brownish side. Americolor makes a beautiful ivory. If you check out my photos, the wedding cake with the red fans on it - the ivory fondant was AmeriColor. I tried 3 or 4 different brands and that was my favorite, but Wilton's ended up looking like an old newspaper color, even if I just used a little.

I agree with Pyxxydust that Americolor has the best ivory. I wish I could show you the cake I used it on but it is stuck on a bad hard drive. icon_cry.gif
