OK...I've had it! I use the Wilton's Cake Release for all my cakes. I have tried several pastry brushes to spread it on my cake pans and hate all of them! Every time I use them I end up with parts of the brush hairs on my pan! I just spent 10 minutes pulling out hairs from the cake pan that I was using to bake my step granddaughters birthday cake! I have tried cheap ones that you get at the grocery store and the one I used today I got at William Sonomas (It's a boar hair one). I even bought a silicone one but it just doesn't spread the cake release evenly. Does anyone else have this problem??? Does anyone have a better idea! I'm tired of pulling hair out of my pans...LOL!!! ![]()

I just spread it with the corner of a paper towel....I hate washing brushes
I feel your pain. Years ago, I had this same problem, but I have come up with 2 solutions:
1. Go to an art supply store and get an artist's acrylic brush. You can get these in a multitude of widths/sizes. I like a 1" brush myself, but what you are looking for is something that will not pull out of the metal. If you can, get your hands on the bristles themselves and give a good tug. If bristles come out of the brush into your hand, try something else.
2. If you're using a pan release that sprays (which is what I do now), just make sure you get into all of the creases/cracks/crevices in your pan, then dust liberally with flour. As long as you have coated every metal surface (no matter how bumpy/bent/creased, etc.), you should be okay.
