I have a recipe for Rugealach and it says to roll the dough out onto a pastry cloth. Are there any substitutions to using a pastry cloth, like rolling the dough out onto a silpat?

If the recipe wants a floured pastry cloth, the amount of flour in the dough may allow for the flour that gets added when it's being rolled out.

To make your own pastry cloth, take a bandana or even better a heavy tablecloth and work flour into it with your hands. Voila, pastry cloth.

If the purpose of the pastry cloth is to prevent sticking, you can use parchment paper or your silpat for rolling out the dough.
