First-Timer Looking For Help
Business By can-i-lick-the-bowl Updated 2 Jun 2007 , 12:09am by can-i-lick-the-bowl
I'm looking to get started on my cake business in Michigan and I'm a little confused on the restrictions in regards to operating out of my home. I reviewed several posts regarding this issue and have even contacted the department of agriculture and reviewed their website along with the state of MI website too. I just feel lost. I realize I need to create a second kitchen in my home but I was wondering what the guidelines are (if any). So I figured I would ask some of you who already have experience with this. I know that I need a separate sink, but does it need to be a 3 compartment sink? And I know that I need a separate oven and fridge and sanitation station and bleach buckets, but is there anything else? Do I need a separate entrance? Is there some sort of checklist that I could get my hands on?
I appreciate your help with this matter and I hope I'm not bothering anyone by asking this... I just feel like I've looked everywhere and it's all so confusing. ![]()
Thanks,
Kristin
I can't help with your questions...just wanted to say a big WELCOME!!!
Maybe this will bump you - just wanted to say welcome and LOVE your screen name!!! ![]()
Sorry, I'm in OH so I can't really help you either but I had to chime in too and say you have an awesome screenname!
Thanks all of you! My mom came up with that name when we were discussing potential names for my business and we both agreed that if I did choose that name no one would forget it! But I'm still trying to decide over a couple. By the way... I'm open to suggestions about that.
And in regards to the questions... hopefully the MI dept. of Agriculture will e-mail me back with everything I need to know. And I can always call them too. So no worries!
Kristin
