When I mix the wiltons black gel with wiltons decorating icing the taste is horrible. what can i use to make the black taste more edible? Im going to be making the scooby doo cake - the one with the hamburger and I will need to use black for scoobys spots.
Starting with chocolate helps mask the aftertaste. If it's a small amount of black, you could use the Wilton tubes of black frosting. They don't have any aftertaste. You also might try switching to Americolors especially for black and red...no aftertaste and you'll use less.

uhmmmm nice to know this thanks,but how do you do with fondant? I spend a lot of time trying to get red ,blue and black the other day...
and nothing so I left it like that....thanks god it was a cake for friends... ![]()
