Two 12x18 stacked!!! I would charge no less than $60! Then more for fillings and decor!

Thanks for the numbers guys. The reason I ask is that I just made myself go up in prices and went from $65 to $75 on this size cake but am now second-guessing myself; wondering if that is too high.

Great Job on the cake! I have done a few Eagle Scout Court of Honor cakes and that medal takes a good amount of time. Well Done!

I charge $100+ for a 2-layer 12x18, depends on filling and decor.

O.K. I really need to raise my prices. I've done a few 2 layer 12 x 18 cakes. My most recent one was dark chocolate and white with a dark chocolate mousse in the middle. Basket weave on the sides and decorated. I charged $40.00. I never know what to charge and I always feel that people think I charge too much.

Kastle, you do need to charge more. I think that most of us do feel like we charge too much when we don't charge enough. My local grocery store (Top Foods) charges $1.50 per serving for custom sheet cakes and so that is what I base my prices on. I think people are still getting a good deal from me because I offer more design options, flavors, and decorating options than my grocery store (I do charge extra for fondant and detailed decorations). They offer buttercream decorations only and a couple of flavors to choose from. They do include filling in their price with the exception of cream cheese (they ask 10% more) and Belgium Ganache (they ask 30% more), carrot cake is 10% more. In my area they are one of the very few grocery stores that provide "custom" cakes. The others do their selected B-day cakes ect. and some do do wedding cakes which start at $2.50 per serving so check out your grocery stores and at least charge what they do. Something else you might do is figure out how much your ingredients are in your cakes. I have a spread sheet in Excel for that and it's amazing how fast it adds up. I'm still not profiting a lot with the prices I'm charging. I just sold an 11x15 double layer, ganache filled, fondant decorated baby shower cake for $72 and my profit was $34.00. I spent 5-6 hours on the fondant decorations, all of one day baking and making frosting, and a couple hours decorating.
