It also helps for me to stick the cake on a pan or something the same size so the fondant can hang naturally rather than pooling at the bottom.
I had the same problem last night, first time this happened to me and I was so lost! I propped on the can, rolled larger than cake, draped over...all went well and went to smooth and the pools/tucks began.
No matter how much I smoothed in small sections, etc it would tuck and pucker
At least it didn't tear! Good thing there!
Guess I just didn't hold my mouth right while doing it (as my gmother would say).
Any other suggestions? I ended up making a border to cover all the pleats I had in the end ![]()
