I was just asked to make a cupcake tree for a wedding. The bride wants 350-400 cupcakes. This will be the actual cake for the wedding. No other form of cake wanted. My question to anyone is how much do I charge for this. Can anyone give me an idea.
Thanks,
Vickie

I would say that it depends on several things. How will they be decorated? How many flavors? Are they regular flavor or specialty flavors? Are they plain or filled?

Wedding cakes go anywhere from $2.00 to $4.00 per serving..... one3 cupcake is considered a serving.

I'd be more concerned with HOW to put all those cupcakes together. And WHERE? At the hall? You'd almost have to do a practice at home to firgure it out! As far as pricing, I don't know either!

I charge about $1 to do a simple cupcake. I leave all the stands and arranging to them. If you have to provide stands and set up...charge more!

I wouldn't charge any less than my normal price per serving for the cupcakes! They are time-consuming and with that many...

As for set up, ask her what she wants. Is there going to be enough table space for all of those? If you need set up ideas there are lots in the gallery here or do a google and click the images link at the top, lots there too. You may need to add a materials charge if items need to be purchased that you can't use again. I wouldn't leave it up to her completely, you have to be sure the structure is stable in advance.

I am begging please, PLEASE don't underprice yourself for this. Think about filling all those individual cups, baking, cooling, icing, etc, etc. Where are you going to store them and how? Do you have to fill each one too? Set up will take longer, transporting...
I think cupcakes wedding cakes are neat and I wouldn't shy away from it. Just plan out all the details in advance. Definitely make the $$ worth all your trouble. Good luck, I'm sure it will be FAB!! icon_biggrin.gif

I agree with $1 each as long as they are kept simple. you can decorate a dozen cupcakes in a few minutes. My concern would be how they wanted them set up. Are you going to make a cupcake tree to accomodate this # of cupcakes? I would add my material and time to the cost if so. Cupcakes, in my opinion are fun and easy to do, and not nearly as teagis as icing a wedding cake smooth, so I think that you could do it for less than you would a 350-400 serving cake. Just my opinion.
