I am pretty new at decorating cakes and would like a few ideas. My grandpa is turning 91 years old and was a farmer a lot of his life, so I am going to make a cake with the John Deere tractor cake topper. I am going off of the picture that came with the topper. Half will be brown(dirt) the other half grass with the fence and trees that came up with the topper. But I think a pond would be cool but I am not sure totally how to make the pond and would like any add. ideas. The cake will be 11x 15 sheet cake size. Thanks 
Go to the gallery and type in a search for a John Deere Tractor, you might get some ideas. That is how i did it as I recently did a john deere tractor cake. I will try to post it here, but I dont know if it is the type of cake you are looking for. I did a FBCT for the tractor (my first!)
I agree with the piping gel idea for the pond. I used it for a water trap on a golf cake and it worked great. A few fondant farm animals would be cute too.
