I am going to try the royal icing letters method, in fact I have them drying now. How would i attach them to a fondant covered cake? Would they stick with a little water brushed onto them? or would I use icing? For those of you that do this method any tips? I am so scared they will break!! icon_surprised.gif I used tip 3. Is that going to be thick enough??

Not water!!! Dabs of royal icing or crusting buttercream. I've have read that some of the cc guys use piping gel, so let us see if they give you their expertise as I've never used it.

I always use a dab of BC. I prefuer royal, but BC works fine. Make extra, they some times break.

I use royal if the cake is going to sit for a while - I find that when I use BC and it sits for more than 2 days - the shortening in the BC starts to break down the royal icing a little and it gets soft. Some people prefer the tip#2 but I'm with you - I use the tip #3 - it seems to hold the thinned down icing better in place and no "over flow". Good luck.

Definately Royal and I agree to make extra, it is soooo easy to break!
