I have been reading about using piping gel to transfer writing to cake and then covering it with BC. I tried it yesterday on a cake and it worked pretty well. The only thing I didn't like is the clear piping gel showing under the BC. All in all I was happy with it and thank those who mentioned it. I may try to thin my BC to use instead of the piping gel next time to see if that may look better.

When I do this, I use a tip 1 to write with piping gel then a larger tip to cover in BC so it completely covers it. I've never had it be too visible using this method.

If you use a crusting BC, you can do the pin prick method. I love it - and my writing is terrible free-hand.

Print out your message in whatever font you want on a word processing program like Microsoft Word or whatever. Poke holes with a pin over the lettering so you get raised dots on the back of the paper. Once your BC has crusted, you can rub the wording over your icing and you'll have little dots to trace. Works like a charm for me!
