First time making a cake covered in ganche and I can't remember if you are supposed to frost the cake in buttercream first? Up late last night doing cakes and too tired to search for the answer icon_cry.gif

depends upon desired effect

i usually just pour it on much like doing pour pettit four icing.

but then, if you want a two-tone effect w/ decorative dribbles/drips down sides...BC underneat and ganache on top.

I've only done it once and I didn't use buttercream on it. Tasted fine and worked fine.
