I got really excited earlier this week....my good friend referred one of her family to me for a wedding cake. She wanted all ivory for 100 people. I emailed her as requested and sent pics of my ivory wedding cakes posted on this site. I haven't heard back. Since the wedding is the 28th, I thought I would have by now. I guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. I told her about $200 if something simple like the pictures, set up/delivery free. So I can't believe the price is too high.
Sorry to sound so gloomy, but I had a feeling someone here would understand how I feel. Guess I should cross my fingers for a while longer?
Are you sure she received your email? Call on the phone if possible. Junk filters sometimes catch my emails with pictures.
Do a follow up phone call or e-mail. It shows that you are interested and lets them know they have to make a decision. With everything going on before a wedding it is easy to forget who you have spoken to!
They probably just presumed you will do it and if not, at least you will know and can stop crossing your fingers.
By the way your cakes are gorgeous and worth more!

Thanks so much. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I just tried to call her, but her voicemail box is full. I'll try again later. You guys are awesome, thanks.
Definitely call her. Email, you never know.
I know the feeling--I have a big cake in two weeks for a new customer, and I called her yesterday to chat about some final details (I'm excited about this cake), and I caught her at a bad time. She had just arrived after a 5-hour drive to somewhere and sounded pale and tired, and after I fired a couple of questions at her, she was just like, "Can we do this some other time?"
whooooshh. I think I actually heard the sound of the wind going out of my sails. But I cheerfully said, "No problem at all; just give me a quick call when you're back home."
Didn't lose the sale or anything, but I was all excited to finalize some details, and then......whooooosh. deflated. I am excited to get started on it though, one way or the other. I think she's just overwhelmed with the details, the head count, the rsvp's, her parents, etc., from what it sounded like. Very nice lady though.
Chin up--your cakes are gorgeous. And $200 is not enough...
Well, I haven't heard from her. She finally got my pictures I sent her. She persistently ignored by requests for a meeting. So I finally emailed her a note that said I was forced to conclude that she didn't want to use me and I hope all goes well for her, blah blah blah.
Just really disappointed.....I so wanted another wedding cake under my belt. Maybe I'll just make one anyway, just for picture's sake. Maybe even try a new recipe just for giggles.
Wonder who she got at the last minute? Her wedding is only 8 days away!
maybe walmart
Sorry you didn't get the cake. That happened to me, I almost had a graduation cake and then I quoted a price and the girl said she couldn't do it because Mommy didn't set enough money aside for the cake.
She got stuck with a boring not as flavorful graduation cake. She really wanted one of mine...oh well!
