AH! Help! I just got a call from my aunt. Today is my Grandmother's birthday and they were wondering if I would be willing to make a cake for the party at 3:00 today. I know I will have to use a mix for the cake itself, but my question is can I cool the cakes in the freezer in order to have enough time to decorate them and somehow get to the party on time? I've never had to bake a cake in this short of a time span. Thanks!

I would think so, but not sure. New to all this, so here's a bump.

I would start if you plan on it. I have never really liked doing same day orders becaue the cake has no time to settle. Does it have to be a decroated cake?? Some other special dessert maybe?

I have the cakes baking right now. (I had a mix already in the pantry.) I was hoping this could be my gift to my grandmother. I don't want it to be a mess though. I think I might consult my recipes and see if I can come up with something else. I'm just too nervous for this!

It should be fine to do it the same day! Just chill it in the freezer, torte and fill, then chill again. You might even want to press the top layer onto the bottom ever so slightly to keep the filling from bulging out once you ice the cake. Good luck - I'm sure your Grandmother will be thrilled that you made the cake for her birthday!
