I was looking through one of my character cake books last night and found a dinosaur one. So cute!! I'm so happy to see that someone did one here in the gallery...

Question is how to get the rounded shape of the body. I thought about running out and getting a Wilton wondermold, doing 2 cakes and stacking them end to end, or is it easier to just bake rounds and shave off the excess? Never done a scultped cake before but I just got my first order for one and I'm so nervous and excited!!! icon_biggrin.gif

when i needed a round/ball I used to pyrex bowls, sprayed them with baker's joy and stuck a flower nail in the bottom poured in the batter baked them in the oven as normal and then i used buttercream to stick them together for a 3D cake. It's the cinderella pumpkin on my galleries...
maybe you could try something like that?

The wondermold isn't really round like a ball, it's a cone. I would either use the sports ball pan or a pyrex bowl. OR you could just carve it out. Depends on with what you are most comfortable.

same here i'd either use the pyrex or the ball pan, the wonder mold won't give you the shape you're looking for. be sure to post the finished product.
