Torting A Fondant Cake Without A "spare Tire"
Decorating By erincakegirl Updated 7 Jul 2006 , 10:59pm by Doug
I seem to have a problem that i don't see anywhere else and that, despite my best efforts of using the stiffest and least amount of icing possible when torting cakes and giving them plenty of time to set up, after I fondant, a lovely spare tire effect takes place. As soon as I go to smooth down my cakes, there is most always a bump where the torting is leaking out. I know this SHOULDN'T happen! Tips please?!?!? ![]()
i hold my icing back at least a 1/2 inch when torting
and
are you pressing so hard that it is actually forcing the icing out the sides?
and
I've had some success when this has happened of just pushing extra hard on sides after doing the top to force the icing back in (doesn't always work)
