First Wedding Cake! Need Flavor Help!

I just got an order for my first wedding cake, it is for my spin instructor at the gym. she is not sure exactly what she wants for the flavor but mentioned that a pecan flavored cake would be great .... maybe pecan shaving in the batter to give it a hint of pecan flavoring, not an overwhelming flavor. Does anyone have a good recipe for something like this and what kind of a filling would you use with this ... she is a semi health nut and doen't like things tobe TOO sweet, is there a way to make a light and fluffy caramel filling?
Also for variety do you all have any recommendations for some popular cake/filling flavors that people lean toward for wedding cakes that I can maybe suggest to her.
