I am doing a baptism cake for my nephew's next weekend (both babies) and had a few ideas.. Wondering if some of you could give me thoughts, ideas, new ideas, photos, or which idea sounds better.

My first idea was to do a FBCT maybe of precious moments (one with a religious theme, angels etc.)

Or my other idea was maybe a white or light blue MMF with the contrasting color of those color flow bubbles (big dots) around the side and maybe a color flow cross on top and maybe a ribbon on bottom.

T hanks everyone

how about two carved cakes?

one the dove and the other the shell (see sketch)

the drop under the shell could be mounds of icing on the cake board.

Neat idea, though I am still a new decorator and I have never done any carving. Is it difficult? I'd probably have to practice a lot! Doug you are so creative! I'd love to see more of your cakes, you don't have a lot of them posted....

not hard at all..especially if just taking a sheet cake and cutting it.

find art (clip or otherwise) you like.
enlarge to needed size
print out
cut out
use as template to trace w/ sharp knife.

here's a link to a two different doves: http://www.stjamescazenovia.com/sacraments.htm

and another: http://www.cist.org/pv/cm/cr4122.htm

and a motherload of doves: http://clipartreview.com/_gallery/_search_term_pages/dove.html

as for shell

real old style, gothic? http://www.northernlutheran.co.uk/catechism4.html (go lutherans! ya might make it to the 20th century yet...and I can say that cause I AM one!)

and another: http://www.sewterific.com/images/Christian%20Sampler/BaptismShell.jpg

and http://www.weoleyhillchurch.org.uk/shell.htm

really up for a challenge--stained glass shell http://www.curtisgraphics.com/images/baptism.jpg

simple one -- http://demo.lutherproductions.com/historytutor/basic/early/genknow/images/catechumens.jpg (hmm the lutherans are getting warmer!)

(as for my pics.....very long story involving eye surgery and other stuff...but...that will change RSN -- thanks for asking.)
