I have to make sea shells for a cake for this weekend. I have a candy mold for the sea shells. I need to give the shells a marbled look. How do you do this without tinting the entire shell brown?

Could you paint brown stripes (although, obviously not straight lines) on the mold before pouring in the other color? If you want the marbling to go all the way through the candy, maybe try swirling some darker colors through the melted lighter color before your pour it into your mold. I mix my melts to make different colors and sometimes there's a point in the mixing process where they look sort of marbled.

I have thought about trying to add a little bit of coloring to the candy melts as I melt them, but I am affraid they will turn out all one color. I didn't know if there was a trick to swirling the coloring in or not.

I made shells with candy melts. Onced each color was made, I put a spoonful of each in a seperate cup and used a chopo stick and swirled the 2. then just took my spoon nad put in molds. They turned out great! Easies t things I have ever done and everyone marveled. I did learn you can only melt a little at time. Good luck

I actually was wondering the same thing as I have to do shells next week. Did you just use regular brown candy color for the other color? Your shells look amazing by the way.

This is exactly how I do it too. Don't try to marble it after you put it into the mold. It won't work. Don't ask me how I know this. icon_biggrin.gif

I ended up just putting the two colors of melts in the same bag and they turned out great.

Did you just use the regular chocolate with the white?

BlairsMom - I did just use the regular chocolate and the white. They actually tasted really good too. (Sorry it took so long we've been out of town.)

No problem, thanks so much! I actually made them on Sat and I think they turned out good. I used super pearl dust on them and I love that stuff. I will have to post a picture of them later! Thanks for the help!

Great job! Arent they fun? The candy melts are the best. I want to make more shells. Think that might be a fun thing to do for a present for someone. Make shells, add some wine or picnic ideas in a basket???

I did use one mold from Hobby Lobby & one from a local cake store! Can't wait to see yours!
