I want to do a filling between two layered cake for my daughters birthday cake. I made a chocolate and a white layer. My daughter wants cream cheese icing in between the two layers,, and she loves cookies and cream. So my question is,, can crushed oreos be mixed with a can of cream cheese icing ? Would this work? Thanks for any help....

I made a cookies and cream filling out of 8 oz cream cheese, cool whip, 4 serving size instant pudding and crushed up oreos. It was really good. I think the oreos in the cream cheese icing would work too, it just may be a bit on the sweet side.

I used to use the cookies and cream recipe on this site, but a few weeks ago I found a box of jello cookies and cream instant pudding and pie filling. It was super easy and tasted really good too. The recipe from CC is really good too, I just don't like the mess of crushing the oreos.

I've never done an actual filling for a cake,, would this have to have a dam to keep from seeping out the sides,, or is it thick enough not to? ( silly question, huh?

When I make cookies and cream filling, I use the regular BC recipe, and add a block of cream cheese and some crushed oreos......it is really good. Just be sure and put a very stiff dam around it before you fill it.

BTW- where in Mississippi are you from?

I put a coupler in a bag and don't use a tip - and put the stiff BC in the bag a pipe it on without a tip- (make sense?) I usually put two layers like this - so I can put more filling. I would suggest that you let it rest after you fill and stack them before you ice them. Sometimes the dam will squish down some and you will have to smooth it out.

Does anyone have any cookies and cream filling recipes that will not require refrigeration?

I am going to use my standard creme filling (for cupcakes) and add crushed oreos to it. I love the cream filling as is and am excited to try it with the oreos. I don't think it would need refrigeration. At least, I've never refrigerated it and haven't gotten sick or anything from it.

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 pinch salt
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
crushed oreos

Cream butter and shortening together until smooth. Add confectioners sugar, a little at a time. Add salt and extract until well blended. Add milk until desired consistency is reached.

I dont think you'd have to refrigerate that. It looks just like buttercream icing with oreos in it. Sounds good!

I have also used Marshmallow fluff for a filling that I added crushed Oreos to. I did a crumb coat on the layers before I filled it so the filling wouldn't absorb into the cake.

I have also used canned white icing and added Oreos to that when I made the Cake Doctors Cookies and Creme cake. Of course, that was before I started making buttercream.
