I am trying to figure out how many servings in a 12 inch double layer heart. I looked in my Wilton book but it looks like a lot to me. Does 54 servings sound like too many?? This is for a bridal shower so I am guessing they will cut wedding cake servings. They will have other food there. I just don't want my price to be too high based on serving if it serves a lot less. I am guessing you price these just like a wedding cake, by the servings??

Hopefully I can find someone who sells these or serving them.

Thanks.

i found that if u trace the shape of the pan on a peice of ppr and then draw out squares the sizes of the servings you can figure it out that way...and then use that as a cutting guide

Earlene says that a 12 inch heart serves 40. Her servings sizes are more generous than wilton. Wilton says 56. Wilton's are very small. How many servings do you want? How does the bride feel about leftover cake. Leftovers are always welcome in my house. Maybe a nice bit for the groom to taste? icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the replies.

I copied the pan and using a ruler, I got 54 wedding cake servings 1 x 2 x 4 and 28 party cake serving 2 x 2 x 4. I guess I just have a really hard time pricing cake in general, LOL!! I have the pricing matrix but it really confuses me. I love to decorate but I HATE the money part.

They want extra cake. I told the client that 12 inch double hearts would be a lot more cake than they needed. It is basically 6 cake mixes so that's a lot of cake.

Here is a picture if anyone wants to help me price it, PLEASE do so. They are 12 inch double layer filled with raspberry preserves, icing in buttercream with fondant accents, pearls, & a rose. I used tulle hot glue to the cake boards for ruffle per the client request. The ruffle part took forever. I got the idea from Boween's cakes.

Thanks!!

It really depends on your location. In my area, I could probably charge $50-65 each.

THANKS, Misdawn!! I charged $100 for both cakes. The pricing matrix said $90 and that was not even adding in for the fondant pearls, tuxedo parts, the filling, and putting the tulle around the boards.

I only know of one bakery in town and apparently they are closed for the week. I have been calling all week hoping to get an idea of their prices on this size cake but got no answer.

What would you says it serves if it were for a bridal shower? Do you use 1 x 2 x 4 sizes? If I remember right that is what people say they go by with prices like $2 for buttercream and then $3 for fondant or something like that. I might be getting the wedding cake order in September so I need to figure this out.

Thanks!!

I would use the party size servings and tell people it should serve approximately 25 for the bridal shower.
