I have a website for my cake decorating business, that gets about 1000 hits a day. I am constantly being ask if I ship cakes and if not could I recommend someone in their area. What I'm wondering is if there would be someplace to post these, so potential customers could meet up with wonderful CC decorators. Maybe something like
Southeast Michigan- 1/2 sheet for June 9, wants chocolate transfer
I certainly don't mind directing business to other decorators, I do it here all the time, if I'm booked up I suggest another cake decorator in my area who does great work.
Maybe if people posted an area where a cake decorator is need, and a decorator responds, then the person placing the post can direct the decorator and customer together, but not necessarily endorsing the other decorators work. Anyway just a thought I hate not being able to help other people.

I believe there are websites that list decorators in different areas. I remember seeing such a page on Earlene Moore's website.

If you click the 'Links' tab at the top, there are listings for bakeries and decorators from CC.

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to, but if you click on the Links tab at the top, there are a couple of links (cake decorators & bakeries) that'll get you to fellow CCer's cake business:

I see what you mean, if you are booked have a referrel of network people... that is pretty cool, but it probably isn't legally doable for Jackie and Heath because they don't REALLY know who is legal and who isn't... I would think if something happened, they might be held responsible and that wouldn't be fair icon_sad.gif But then again, it is a GREAT idea!

I guess my idea was to be able to post the location, and if anyone from that area was interested they could initiate contact

Yeah I didnt think of the legal issue, It's just people are always asking if I know someone in there state, sometimes I just scratch my head and think- why would I? I dont know maybe tell the people to look here for cake decorators in their area? I dont know that Jackie or Heath would want that?

we are not prepared to offer that option right now. However, in the future we do have plans to implement a referral system for "verified" legal decorators.

this is still a ways off, but it is in the plans.
