Groom's Cake??

Do you charge per slice for groom's cakes just as you do wedding cakes?

Depends on the size/design!

If it's a pretty simple cake, I'd charge a flat rate for it.

If it's larger/more detailed, I'd charge by the slice.

It also depends on whether or not you are doing the wedding cake, I think.

Since the groom's cakes I do vary in style, serving size, and flavors more than the wedding cakes, I don't really have a set formula for them. I basically come up with a flat rate, and chop off about 20%; this way I can offer a discount for already ordering the wedding cake. In my neck of the woods, more folks are ordering the groom's cakes for the rehearsal dinners, and they're feeding pretty large groups with them (recently, I did one for 100 people for a rehearsal dinner...I didn't even have that many people at my wedding!).
